Thursday, November 17, 2011

When you think of adult diapers, the misconception is that they are used only for older individuals that are incontinent due to age, mobility, impairment or dementia. People that have a medical condition due to bladder issues or bowel problems are not necessarily older or have any mental condition but still need to use them. There are individuals that maybe bed ridden or a wheelchair that may need to use disposable briefs.

Tena disposable briefs come in a wide variety. The cheapest and least absorbent are the ones that are commonly used. This is not because people are cheap by any means it is due to the fact that because medical facilities are the largest consumers of adult briefs due to the fact that they are required to change patients every two hours for health regulations.

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

This really pertains to our joints and bladders. It can be quit embarrassing if  you aren’t prepared for the unexpected.

Keeping One’s Dignity

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

The aging process has a way of sneaking up on even the most active elderly people. At some point, the role of parent and child reverses itself; all of a sudden, it’s up to the son or daughter to determine where the parent will spend his or her last days. In some cases, this means turning over the responsibility to an assisted-living center. But some children choose to bear the burden themselves; they think it’s the least they can do.

For many elderly people, maintaining dignity is just as important as surviving at all. No one wants to be subjected to embarrassing situations, especially where bodily functions are involved. Some older men and women develop incontinence issues as they age, which makes every trip to the bathroom a risky endeavor. A commode chair strategically placed at bedside is often the best alternative, as it can be moved and cleaned easily. Using attends disposable briefs are a good alternative to consider as well.

Maturing In Age

Thursday, May 19, 2011

It is extremely hard maturing in age. Your body decides that it’s tired and doesn’t want to work the way that it used to. It can be a very frustrating, emotional, and let alone embarrassing time. This is especially true when you become incontinent.

There are ways to make the transition a little easier. No solution is perfect, but there are ways to make the transition a little easier. Disposable briefs are a decent way to make the transition a little easier. They aren’t as bulky as an actual diaper, so no one will know that you are wearing them. It ensures that if you do have an accident, then you are prepared for it. It is less embarrassing a feeling, and you can still maintain your dignity.

Women and Fecal Incontinence

Friday, April 08, 2011

According to a new study from Australia, one in five adult women suffers from fecal incontinence. Women who reported fecal incontinence were more likely to have bladder control issues as well. The same kind of nerves and tissues affect both types of incontinence.

The study is significant because it helps fill in the gaps of this under-reported issue. One in five women may seem high, but the truth is not much research has been done to see how common fecal incontinence is. Likely, embarrassment associated with incontinence has led to under-reporting. For men and women who are affected by incontinence, wearing adult incontinence briefs can offer security and comfort.

Causes of Incontinence

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Millions of Americans struggle daily with incontinence. People of all ages and from all walks of life are facing difficult choices that have a significant effect on their daily lives. Common causes of incontinence vary. Over the coming months we’ll dedicate a post to the causes of incontinence with a new cause introduced in each post. To start this month we’ll talk about one of the most common causes of incontinence: pregnancy and childbirth.

As if pregnant women didn’t have enough to worry about you can add persistent urinary incontinence to the list. The hormone changes that take place can cause a variety of unique problems. Paired with the excess pressure on the bladder from an enlarged uterus you’ve got a recipe for incontinence. After childbirth is complete, the stresses placed on the muscles can cause them to become too weak to aid in urinary control, further exacerbating the issue. Other bodily changes that occur can also damage nerves in the bladder and the tissue that supports it.

If you’re struggling with incontinence then adult briefs may be just what you need to regain your freedom.

Caring for Dad

Thursday, July 22, 2010

When my mother died a few months ago, my dad told me that he didn’t want to continue living in their home by himself. In recent years his health has been in a steady decline, so I suggested going to an assisted living facility. As soon as I brought it up I could see the disappointment in his eyes; I quickly retracted my statement and invited him to come live with my wife and I, an invitation which he readily accepted.

Honestly, I was expecting to have to be tending to his father constantly, but he’s been surprisingly self-sufficient. He changes his own Tena disposable briefs, bathes himself and even takes our dog for walks in the afternoon. Since he was a high school math teacher, he’s also been helping our youngest child with his math assignments. The situation is working out beautifully, and I’m a bit ashamed of my prior apprehensions.

Taking Care of Grandpa

Monday, June 07, 2010

For as long as I can remember, my grandpa has been a focal character in my life story. Since he lives just a few blocks away, he was in attendance at all of my school activities and sporting events. We have maintained a close relationship throughout the years, but his health his taken a turn for the worse as of late.

It pains me to see my grandpa in poor health, but I still pay him a visit everyday. I usually go in the afternoon and help out with chores around the house, changing his Attends briefs and running errands. Most nights I will even cook us dinner and enjoy a nice meal with my grandpa
