They Are Not Only For “Maturing Adults”

Thursday, November 17, 2011

When you think of adult diapers, the misconception is that they are used only for older individuals that are incontinent due to age, mobility, impairment or dementia. People that have a medical condition due to bladder issues or bowel problems are not necessarily older or have any mental condition but still need to use them. There are individuals that maybe bed ridden or a wheelchair that may need to use disposable briefs.

Tena disposable briefs come in a wide variety. The cheapest and least absorbent are the ones that are commonly used. This is not because people are cheap by any means it is due to the fact that because medical facilities are the largest consumers of adult briefs due to the fact that they are required to change patients every two hours for health regulations.

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

As women get older they are more vulnerable to urinary incontinence. There are different reasons why women can experience leakage. The main reason is that the pelvic floor muscle starts to get weak. This can be due to age or just going through labor.

If you are one of the many women that are inflicted with incontinence there are options that are available to you. When just have a little leakage then a small pad is something that can be used for incontinence. If there is a chance that you can have a bigger issue then something along the lines of Tena briefs will be a better fit. They are more advanced and don’t look like a typical diaper, which will make any women feel less self conscious.

Preventing Attends Rash

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

Friction rash is the most common type of attend adult diaper rash. The rash occurs on areas where there is a high level of friction, such as inner thighs and under the elastic of diapers. Irritant rash is also common and is often found on the exposed areas like the middle of the buttocks. This rash is the result of irritants like soap, baby wipes and detergents coming into contact with the skin.

If a rash looks like poison oak, then it’s probably an allergic rash. Allergic rashes are caused by moist heat and strike deep within the skin folds. One of the best ways to prevent rashes is by using tena wipes.

Better Alternative

Monday, May 16, 2011

When my mother had her hysterectomy, a few years back, her biggest fear was having any accidents while in recovery. She refused to use a bed pan. She was determined to take care of herself. The doctor gave a few options to decide on.

The bed pan was out of the question. The second option was a Foley catheter. That, like the bed pan, was out of the question. The third option was Tena diapers. She decided on the diapers because they where lightweight. You couldn’t even tell that she had them on. She told the doctor “I have changed diapers all my life. I can certainly change my own.” It was a great alternative for her.

~Disposable Under: The most common solution, Tena briefs and other name brand options fit like traditional underwear and effectively contain all substances. These products use the latest technology to maintain dryness, eliminate odor and provide the highest level of discreet comfort.

~Pads: Disposable pads are simply laid in your underwear, effectively preventing any leakage.

~Briefs: Brief style solutions attach at the side, making them easy to put on and remove—ideal for caregivers.

Caring for Dad

Thursday, July 22, 2010

When my mother died a few months ago, my dad told me that he didn’t want to continue living in their home by himself. In recent years his health has been in a steady decline, so I suggested going to an assisted living facility. As soon as I brought it up I could see the disappointment in his eyes; I quickly retracted my statement and invited him to come live with my wife and I, an invitation which he readily accepted.

Honestly, I was expecting to have to be tending to his father constantly, but he’s been surprisingly self-sufficient. He changes his own Tena disposable briefs, bathes himself and even takes our dog for walks in the afternoon. Since he was a high school math teacher, he’s also been helping our youngest child with his math assignments. The situation is working out beautifully, and I’m a bit ashamed of my prior apprehensions.
