Changing A Patient In The Bed

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

If you have ever worked in the healthcare field you know that there are steps to making a bed. There are also steps in changing a bed while the patient is still in it. Changing a bed while a patient is still in it can be a little difficult.

When you have a patient that has to be changed regularly due to incontinence, you can get changing the incontinence underpads down pat. You never want to change a bed ridden patient by yourself. Gently rocking the patient back and forth from side to side will allow you to roll up the old pad and get the new pad put in place. Making sure that you have another under pad placed to change out the old one will save your back and time. It will also make the patient more comfortable.

When it comes to adult diapers there are a few different styles that you can choose from. Depending on what you are more comfortable with wearing is what you will have to decide on for yourself. Adult diapers can be a little more bulky then others adult pads.

Discreet Protection Against Leakage

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Over 25 million Americans deal with urinary incontinence. This figure encompasses people of all ages from little kids to the elderly. Nighttime can be particularly difficult because you may sleep through your brain signaling that you need to use the restroom. Even if you know you need to urinate, if mobility is an issue you may not make it to the bathroom quickly enough.

Underpads are a great way to protect your mattress against nighttime accidents. They come in disposable and re-usable options. The absorbent pad fits comfortably over your mattress and beneath your sheets, providing discreet protection against leaks. Underpads can also be used on wheelchairs, sofas, and chairs if a person with incontinence problems is going to be seated for long periods of time.

Coping with My Incontinence

Thursday, August 05, 2010

I often hear people being critical of young people for their brash temperament. This is often due to a sense of invincibility, with the foolhardiness of youth distorting a youngster’s perception of reality. And while it’s nice to enjoy the freedom and liberty that youth offers, it’s important to recognize your limitations as well.

Although I’m in my 70s, I have to admit that I recently found myself falling victim to this disillusioned since of my own capabilities. Nobody likes to admit that their health is deteriorating, so when I began to suffer incontinence problems, I was hesitant to seek help. Now I’ve learned to accept the issue and have begun taking measure to remedy the issue, including carrying Attends underpads with me at all times.

The Merits of Disposable Underpads

Monday, May 24, 2010

Incontinence comes in all shapes and forms, and for those suffering from minor incontinence, a full brief or diaper isn’t always necessary. Disposable underpads offer a more discreet means of coping with incontinence issues. These thin pads are comfortable and undetectable while offering a high level of absorbency.

Most underpads come with a woven top-sheet, which allows fluids to easily pass to an absorbent core. This design allows for superior protection while still allowing airflow. You can choose from several pads depending on the size of the person and their specific incontinence needs.
