Your doctor may want you do the following test to diagnosis your mixed incontinence
1. keep a journal with answering questions like the following:
a. Do you experience pain when urinating
b. Do you leak urine before getting to the bathroom
c. Had you had a back injury
2. Bladder Stress Test
a. Doctor determines if your loosing urine while the make you cough
3. Q-Tip test
a. A q-tip is inserted into the urethra while you cough to see if the Q-Tip moves around a lot. If it does this indicates a weakening of the tissue that supports the bladder
4. Catheterization
a. The doctor inserts the catheter after your done urinating to determine if there is more urine in the bladder. If there is this indicates that the bladder doesn’t empty completely
5. Urinalysis and Urine Culture
a. To determine if there are any infections present
6. Ultrasound
a. To actually visualize how the bladder is contraction
Treatment of mixed incontinence depends upon the individual and the severity of the incontinence.
Some people choose to wear adult diapers or disposable bladder control pads to maintain the incontinence until they can get it under control.
