Discreet Undergarments Put an End to Embarrassment

Friday, April 23, 2010

For one reason or another, it occasionally becomes necessary for doctors to remove a portion of a patient’s colon. This procedure is performed with the best intentions in mind – it’s often done to eliminate or stave off dangerous medical conditions. In any event, patients are left with a colostomy, or a surgically created opening of the colon. They then require a customized pouching system – sometimes called a – to collect waste.

Although it shouldn’t be so, the presence of an ostomy can become a source of embarrassment. Society dictates that bodily functions are not placed front and center; rather, their existence should be minimized in the presence of polite company. Ostomy underwear helps to make the process much more discreet by fitting snugly and comfortably over the pouching system, but you will want to be sure to always have Attends wipes on hand as well.

Taking Care of Mom

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

When my mom moved in with my wife and me, we were ill prepared for the range of tasks that taking care of her entailed. After suffering multiple strokes, my mother’s health had deteriorated quickly and she was unable to do many basic tasks by herself. Now that she has been living with us for a couple of months, we have all become more accustomed to the situation and developed a routine.

I am in charge of helping my mom run errands and do basic tasks around the house such as preparing food. My wife helps her with various tasks in the bedroom and bathroom, including getting in and out of the tub and changing her Attends diapers. I can tell that my mother feels like she is a burden, but my wife and I are more than happy to have her living with us.
