Taking On My Incontinence

Friday, August 20, 2010

All of my life I’ve prided myself on my self-sufficiency and resiliency, so when my health began to deteriorate a couple of months ago, I didn’t know what to do. I could deal with the minor aches and pains, but one problem I couldn’t overcome alone was my incontinence. After trying to hide the problem for weeks, I decided to see my doctor.

She told me that incontinence is quite normal in the aging population and that the best means of controlling is was adult diapers. As you can imagine, that was a hard pill for me to swallow, but it was a necessary one. After shopping around, I settle on Prevail diapers. They’re lightweight and effective, so nobody else can tell I’m wearing them and I don’t have to worry about seepage when I’m out in public.

Coping with My Incontinence

Thursday, August 05, 2010

I often hear people being critical of young people for their brash temperament. This is often due to a sense of invincibility, with the foolhardiness of youth distorting a youngster’s perception of reality. And while it’s nice to enjoy the freedom and liberty that youth offers, it’s important to recognize your limitations as well.

Although I’m in my 70s, I have to admit that I recently found myself falling victim to this disillusioned since of my own capabilities. Nobody likes to admit that their health is deteriorating, so when I began to suffer incontinence problems, I was hesitant to seek help. Now I’ve learned to accept the issue and have begun taking measure to remedy the issue, including carrying Attends underpads with me at all times.
