Friction rash is the most common type of attend adult diaper rash. The rash occurs on areas where there is a high level of friction, such as inner thighs and under the elastic of diapers. Irritant rash is also common and is often found on the exposed areas like the middle of the buttocks. This rash is the result of irritants like soap, baby wipes and detergents coming into contact with the skin.

Keeping One’s Dignity

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

The aging process has a way of sneaking up on even the most active elderly people. At some point, the role of parent and child reverses itself; all of a sudden, it’s up to the son or daughter to determine where the parent will spend his or her last days. In some cases, this means turning over the responsibility to an assisted-living center. But some children choose to bear the burden themselves; they think it’s the least they can do.

For many elderly people, maintaining dignity is just as important as surviving at all. No one wants to be subjected to embarrassing situations, especially where bodily functions are involved. Some older men and women develop incontinence issues as they age, which makes every trip to the bathroom a risky endeavor. A commode chair strategically placed at bedside is often the best alternative, as it can be moved and cleaned easily. Using attends disposable briefs are a good alternative to consider as well.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

There is a misconception with adult diapers. People tend to think that the only reason why you would purchase any type of adult diapers is because you are getting older. That your bladder control is lacking. You can use adult diapers for many different reasons.

When my sister had her first baby boy, she was having a little more issues then usual. The regular pads that they recommend was not working as well as they were supposed to. She had to buy adult diapers to make her more comfortable. Adult diapers are not just for older individuals.

There are ways to make the transition a little easier. No solution is perfect, but there are ways to make the transition a little easier. Better Alternative

Monday, May 16, 2011

When my mother had her hysterectomy, a few years back, her biggest fear was having any accidents while in recovery. She refused to use a bed pan. She was determined to take care of herself. The doctor gave a few options to decide on.

The bed pan was out of the question. The second option was a Foley catheter. That, like the bed pan, was out of the question. The third option was Tena diapers. She decided on the diapers because they where lightweight. You couldn’t even tell that she had them on. She told the doctor “I have changed diapers all my life. I can certainly change my own.” It was a great alternative for her.

Being Prepared

Monday, May 02, 2011

It is extremely hard to go through the transition of getting older. Your body starts to get a mind of its own. Your bones get weaker; your memory doesn’t work as well. Incontinence is the most embarrassing factor.

Using Prevail pads is a good way to eliminate the chance of embarrassment. Over-stimulated bladders are more common as one gets older. It can be quite embarrassing to have an accident and not be prepared. It’s best to be prepared in any situation.
